Residents of the DMV are in for a Sunday night treat, as Texas-based four-piece This Will Destroy You is set to play Washington, D.C.’s U Street Music Hall. Support will be provided by Future Death and Silent Land Time Machine. A night of rich dynamics and a diverse myriad of atmospherics await you, so jump right in.

Silent Land Time Machine (Set Time – 7:45 pm)

A self-described “experimental chamber-folk” act, Jonathan Slade has been performing under the SLTM moniker since 2008. The Austin, Texas native is most at home on the viola, and the string-laden tracks that comprise his catalog are an airy accompaniment for TWDY’s more weighted musical approach.

Future Death (Set Time – 8:30 pm)

As erratic as SLTM is restrained, fellow Austin-based band Future Death plays music befitting a group that’s been together far longer than just two years. With frenetic melodies and metallic undertones ensconced in a sheen of lo-fi static, Future Death’s no-holds-barred approach will be a sight to see in the confines of U Hall.

This Will Destroy You (Set Time – 9:15 pm)

Another Language, TWDY’s latest, is the most complete realization of the group’s “doomgaze” vision to date. They’ve always pushed back against being labeled a post-rock group – as bassist/keyboardist Donovan Jones said, “Fuck post-rock, and fuck being called post-rock,” – and with their most recent release it’s clear they mean it. Read our review of that album here, expect the unexpected, and prepare for a hell of a show tonight at U Street Music Hall.
