AltFreq Weekly Planner (11/23-11/26)

Written by Kevin Madert

It’s nearly impossible to keep track of all the events going on in the area, so we’re here to let you know what’s happening in live music over the next few days. Watch out on Thursdays for the “Weekend Planner” where we’ll cover the most important 72 hours of the week. S/o to friend of the blog Jared Oppenheim for the solid suggestion.

(ALTFREQ PICK) Say Anything & Saves The Day @ Fillmore Silver Spring – I’ve sat at my computer for quite a while in contemplation, but I’ve come to the conclusion that explaining this tour to people who didn’t grow up with this music is almost impossible. Perennial pop-punk outfits Say Anything, Saves The Day, and Reggie and the Full Effect all possess in their catalogs genre staple albums that turn 10 this year. Someone put one and one and one together – bless them – and the three groups are on tour together, with each playing their respective albums in their entirety. That means you’ll be hearing Under The Tray…, followed by Through Being Cool, followed by …Is A Real Boy, from front to back. The nostalgia levels generated by such an event are sure to border on biblical; don’t miss out. (Tickets)

(SOLD OUT) St. Lucia @ 930 Club – (Info)

Home For The Holidays Ft. Lakim @ U Street Music Hall – (Tickets / Info)

John Kadlecik & The DC Mystery Cats @ Gypsy Sally’s – *21+ show, tickets at the door* (Info)

Baltimore

I-Wayne @ The 8×10 – (Tickets)

Wednesday 11/26

DC

(ALTFREQ PICK) New World Punx @ Echostage – Back in November 2012, Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz played an open-to-close back-to-back set at Echostage. While attendees didn’t know it at the time, this was the birth of New World Punx. Named for a pair of songs – Schulz’s “The New World” and Corsten’s “Punk” – the duo has returned to the District under their official moniker once before. This Thanksgiving eve is different though, as NWP will play another marathon open-to-close set at Echostage as a part of Club Glow’s 15th anniversary. There are sure to be giveaways abound as the DC nightlife staple says thanks and gives back to the community that has supported it since 1999. (Tickets / Info)

(ALTFREQ PICK) Moombahton Massive XL @ U Street Music Hall – For DC residents and in-the-loop locals this one’s a no-brainer. U Street Music Hall’s Moombahton Massive event series is turning four, and Nadastrom, Sabo and company are coming together to celebrate this Wednesday. Doubling as a birthday bash for Mama Nada – mother to Dave (of Nadastrom) and purveyor of the best empanadas you’re liable to ever have – this is sure to be a particularly raucous edition of an always bumping party. (Tickets / Info)

(SOLD OUT) St. Lucia @ 930 Club – (Info)

Flashgiving Eve Ft. Guti (Live) @ Flash – (Tickets / Info)

B.o.B. @ Fillmore Silver Spring – (Tickets)

(SOLD OUT) John Kadlecik & The DC Mystery Cats @ Gypsy Sally’s – *21+ show* (Info)

SNBRN & Friends @ Malmaison – (Tickets / Info)

Baltimore

(ALTFREQ PICK) The Bridge @ Rams Head Live – This is a Baltimore show through and through. Six-piece jam outfit The Bridge have called the Charm City home since their formation in the early 2000s. They’ve come a long way since then, traveling countless miles to share their mix of blues, funk, folk and bluegrass with the masses. This hometown show is sure to be a romping, stomping good time, so grab your tickets and don’t be left out in the cold.  (Tickets / Info)
