AltFreq Weekend Planner (12/4-12/6)

Written by Kevin Madert

It’s nearly impossible to keep track of all the events going on in the area, so we’re here to let you know what’s happening in live music over the next few days. Watch out on Sundays for our “Weekly Planner,” where we’ll cover the remaining four days of the week.

Saturday 12/6:

DC

(SOLD OUT) Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue @ 930 Club – (Info)

(ALTFREQ PICK) Loco Dice @ Echostage – Tech house reigns supreme as one of the godfathers of modern electronic music takes to the decks at Echostage this Friday. Along for the ride is the one and only Pete Tong – he of “Bee Bee Sea Ray Dee Oh One” fame – as well as San Diego depth expert Harvard Bass. Head here if you’re looking for an experience wholly out of the Echo ordinary. (Tickets / Info)

The Shadowboxers @ U Street Music Hall (EARLY SHOW) – (Tickets / Info)

(ALTFREQ PICK) Orchard Lounge @ U Street Music Hall (LATE SHOW) – If you’re somewhat familiar with deep house, chances are you’ve heard of Orchard Lounge. The Chicago-based duo (formerly a trio) has been performing for nearly 15 years, and their stage presence and ability to command the attention of a room no matter the size seems to become more masterful with each passing year. This show is free for 21+ before 11 PM as space allows, but their last show at U Hall was packed to the brim by that point; we highly recommend you buy tickets in advance or arrive early – the club allows re-entry, and there’s plenty of other places on the U Street corridor that can keep you entertained until you feel like returning. (Tickets / Info)

Kevin Saunderson @ Flash – (Tickets / Info)

Hoots And Hellmouth @ Gypsy Sally’s – *21+ show* (Tickets / Info)

DC101 pres. Eliot In The Morning’s Holiday Concert @ GMU Patriot Center – *Featuring Rise Against, A Day To Remember, The Gaslight Anthem & More* (Tickets / Info)

Baltimore

(ALTFREQ PICK) Point Break Live! @ Baltimore Soundstage – It’s more or less a guarantee this head-scratching concept will be a highly amusing affair. A thespian parody of the 1991 cult classic film, the adaptation is perhaps most noted for its unique casting premise: at the beginning of each night, audience members are given the opportunity to “audition” for the Keanu Reeves role. After one is selected, they proceed to star in the play, being moved about the stage by the production’s actual actors and reading all their lines off cue cards handed to them throughout the night. So besides being the most uproarious endeavor you’re likely to embark upon this weekend, it’s also a chance for you spotlight types to grab your 15 minutes. (Tickets / Info)

(An Evening With) The Feelies @ Ottobar – *18+ event* (Tickets)

Carey Ziegler’s Expensive Hobby @ The 8×10 – (Tickets)
