Nightmare Festival: Five Can’t-Miss Saturday Night Sets

Nightmare Festival: Five Can’t-Miss Saturday Night Sets

Written by Kevin Madert

Halloween may be over but the fun is still in full swing at Nightmare Festival. Much like Friday, there’s a little something for everyone throughout the night across Nightmare’s three stages. Read on to see who you’d be a fool to miss on the decks tonight.

Figure (12:00-1:00 am in the Warehouse)

A quick check of the math on this one confirms it’s a no-brainer: The King of spooky, terrifying drumstep + a Halloween-themed festival + an all-new production rig dubbed “Terrorvision” = a packed to the brim warehouse when the clock strikes midnight.

Russ Liquid (12:00-1:00 am in the Pavilion)

When you’ve won the good graces of someone like Gramatik, you’re probably doing something right. Russ Liquid’s trumpet-infused future funk is a little less straightforward than his Solvenian counterpart, but possesses just as much ability to get feet moving and heads bobbing.

Tincup (9:30-10:30 pm in the Warehouse)

Much like fellow Nightmare performer Apashe, up-and-comer Tincup finds his sonic home among the weird and the wonky. His hip-hop-heavy tunes bring just as much heat as his non-exploratory trap counterparts, but Tincup takes the road less traveled in producing them. It’s that desire to do something different that puts him ahead of the pack, and it’s why you’d better not miss his set tonight.

BT (1:00-2:00 am in the Warehouse)

If you enjoy musicians who could show up and play any genre at the drop of a hat, BT is someone you should acquaint yourself with. He has roots as a pioneer of both trance and IDM, he’s forayed into dubstep – If The Stars Are Eternal Then So Are You And I is a masterpiece of an album – and recently even delved into more standard progressive house. His storied history makes every time he takes the stage that much more exciting.

Plantrae (9:00-10:00 pm in the Pavilion)

Rounding it out is a non-traditional electronic artist. Plantrae channels everyone from Shpongle to Ott in crafting his world-influenced beats, and it makes for an experience equal parts relaxing and uplifting. If you’re looking for a respite from the constant backbeat, look no further and find yourself here.

Tickets are still available for Nightmare Festival – you can scoop them right here or grab single-day tickets at the door for $70. Connect with them over on Facebook to stay up-to-date during and after the festival.
