News: Summer Camp Announces First Round of 2015 Artists
–Written by Kevin Madert
Here at AltFreq we firmly believe it’s never too early to start planning for festival season. The fine folks in charge of Summer Camp – set to celebrate its 15th iteration May 22-25 in Chillecothe, Illinois – feel much the same; they’ve just released their tier one lineup and tickets are already on sale.
For those familiar with Summer Camp many of the artists will come as no surprise, although five sets of both moe. and Umphrey’s McGee is wonderfully absurd news. Other highlights include Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, John Butler Trio, and Probcause. Check the full list below and head on over to the Summer Camp website for all the latest information.

In today’s post-rock news Swedish producer/composer Christoffer Franzén – aka Lights & Motion – has premiered “Reborn,” the first single off of this highly anticipated album Chronicle, which is set for worldwide release through Deep Elm Records on January 13th. Chronicle is the follow up to one of the most highly acclaimed post-rock albums of 2013, Save Your Heart. In the interim Franzén has also contributed to cinematic trailers (including films Lone Survivor and Homefront) and several commercials.

Weekend Wind-Down No. 12: Anjunadeep
–Words and list by Kevin Madert
For every yin there is a yang. After warming it up with the upbeat side of Above & Beyond-purveyed music, I decided our wind-down should explore the deeper side of things. Enter Anjunabeats sub-label Anjunadeep, where the releases are more subdued and the focus placed on more progressive and varied styles. I tried to represent that breadth in these ten songs; “Neon Feel” is plenty funky, “Lost In You” and “Every Night” are deep and vocal, and “Gaff’s Eulogy” stands out as the only tune on the list that’s not steady beat at all.
