AltFreq Weekly Planner (12/14-12/17)

Written by Kevin Madert

It’s nearly impossible to keep track of all the events going on in the area, so we’re here to let you know what’s happening in live music over the next few days. Watch out on Thursdays for the “Weekend Planner” where we’ll cover the most important 72 hours of the week.

Sunday 12/14

DC

(ALTFREQ PICK) Netsky @ 930 Club – In case you didn’t get enough at Dieselboy on Thursday, Steez Promo has plenty more world-class drum ‘n’ bass for your shuffling pleasure. This time it’s of the more melodic variety as Belgian export Netsky (pronounced exactly as it’s spelled) brings his full live band experience to the 930 Club. The last time he visited the District he nearly leveled the nearby Howard Theatre, and I’m expecting nothing less from the liquid drum ‘n’ bass maestro Sunday. Opening sets from rapid riser Kove and upstart local Droosie mean you should arrive early and plan to stay late. (Tickets / Info)

Paperhaus (performing Kraftwerk’s “Trans European Express”) @ U Street Music Hall – *Free for 21+* (Tickets / Info)

Russian Circles @ Rock & Roll Hotel – (Tickets / Info)

Baltimore

The Baltimore Battle Of The Bands @ Ottobar – (Info)

Monday 12/15

DC

Estelle @ Howard Theatre – (Tickets / Info)

(SOLD OUT) Train @ Fillmore Silver Spring – (Info)

Baltimore

(ALTFREQ PICK) The Ghost Inside & Every Time I Die @ Baltimore Soundstage – Soundstage has seen no shortage of heavy this winter, and the trend rolls on with this growling, snarling, shredding tag-team. Whether you enjoy the melodic hardcore of The Ghost Inside or the no-holds-barred metalcore of Every Time I Die, you’ll leave Baltimore with a crick in your neck and staccato screams and riffs ringing in your ears. See you in the pit, kids. (Tickets / Info)

Tuesday 12/16

DC

(SOLD OUT) Flosstradamus @ 930 Club – (Info)

Baltimore

(ALTFREQ PICK) Genetix @ The Get Down – Depth Perception has spoiled Baltimorians (Baltimorites? Baltimorers?) this winter. A few weeks back it was the endless depth stylings of Seven, Youngsta and Compa; this time around the British invasion continues with Bournemouth duo Genetix. If you’ve been to a dubstep show in the past four years you’ve without doubt heard their classic “Squid Attack,” but an opportunity to see them perform in the US isn’t one that comes around often. Even better, the duo will play two sets – if I’ve heard correctly, one will be deep and the other will blow the roof off the Get Down. (Tickets)

Wednesday 12/17

DC

Flosstradamus @ 930 Club – (Tickets / Info)

Gina Turner @ Flash – (Tickets / Info)

Tinashe @ Howard Theatre – (Tickets / Info)

Baltimore

Vanna & Texas In July @ Ottobar – (Tickets)

DELTAnine @ The 8×10 – (Tickets)
