1. From the “better late than never” department, technology übercompany Apple threw their hat into the digital streaming ring with the launch of Apple Music. Users are granted unlimited access to the tens of millions of songs in Apple’s formidable library for a monthly fee ($9.99 for individuals, $15.99 for a family account that allows up to six simultaneous users). While we’ll probably be given all sorts of exclusives thanks to Apple’s deep pockets and industry clout – Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, for example, will be available for streaming for the first time ever via Apple Music – the service still lacks in some areas – there’s not much social interaction (a lá Spotify) and the music streams in 256kbps (320kbps is the norm). The company is offering free three month trials for all first-time users, so you can decide for yourself if Apple Music is the next big thing or simply another lackluster wave (*cough* Tidal *cough*). Camp Bisco continues to fire on all cylinders; after announcing their return a few days ago, then their new home at Scranton, PA’s Montage Mountain, the long-running festival has just released the lineup for the 2015 festival, slated for July 16-18. The bill – topped by The Disco Biscuits, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, STS9, Atmosphere, and Tipper – is varied enough to appeal to a wide audience and strong enough to make us entirely okay with last year’s hiatus.

News: Nocturnal Wonderland Announces Initial Artists for 20th Annual Festival

Long-running Insomniac venture Nocturnal Wonderland is set to take place for the 20th year this Labor Day weekend, and today announced the first round of artists who will be joining in the celebration. Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, and Armin van Buuren are among the headliners tapped to take the stage September 4-6 at the San Manuel Amphitheater and Grounds in San Bernardino, CA. Insomniac doesn’t appear to have the ability to go any way besides big, so expect much more to come between now and Labor Day.

Pemberton Music Festival –slated for July 16-19 in Pemberton, a village about a half-hour north of Whistler, BC – released today a diverse initial lineup that should draw fans from across the musical spectrum. The bill is topped by hip-hop stars (Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, Missy Elliot) alt and indie rockers (The Black Keys, Weezer, Jane’s Addiction), and Tiësto (just for the hell of it).
