News: Movement Festival Announces Stages, Daily Schedule

Written by Kevin Madert

The depthtech mecca known as Movement is fast-approaching, and before long thousands will descend on Detroit’s Hart Plaza riverfront for a Memorial Day celebration of the underground. Today the festival announced both set times and stage by stage lineups, giving us a few weeks to plan out our personal schedules/lament those inevitable overlaps (although there are surprisingly few overall).

Aside from the Movement Main Stage, the festival will feature the Red Bull Music Academy Stage, the Beatport Stage, the Thump Stage, the Underground Stage, and the Sixth Stage (get it?). Special curated events include a Saturday Wild Life takeover by Disclosure on the Red Bull Stage, a Ghostly International Showcase Sunday on the Thump Stage, and a Detroit Koncrete Jungle Showcase on the Sixth Stage on Saturday.

Also of note: A two-hour mainstage set from hometown techno legend Richie Hawtin shouldn’t be missed (although the clash with Disclosure is unfortunate); the six stages may mean a lot of clashing sets, but it also means no one gets less than an an hour, and many are 1.5 hours or longer; closing out the festival with DJ Snoopadelic is the clear and logical move.

Movement Festival takes place in Detroit, MI May 23-25. Tickets are on sale now.
