(ALTFREQ PICK) Claude VonStroke @ U Street Music Hall (LATE SHOW) – What can we say? The Dirtybird label don/purveyor of all things deep and technical returns to U Street Music Hall for the umpteenth time, but we’re not complaining. His minimal style mixes well with some of the more straightforward groovy tracks he plays out in a live setting, and all of it will sound fantastic as usual in the tight confines of 1115 U. (ALTFREQ PICK) Dreamscape Festival @ Camp Ramblewood (Darlington, MD) – In case you’ve missed it, we’re pretty stoked for this year’s Dreamscape. Held for the first time at Camp Ramblewood (the same location as the last few Nightmares) and expanded for the first time to two full days, the festival is shaping up to be a roaring soiree with a soundtrack to match. (ALTFREQ PICK) Easy Star All-Stars @ Gypsy Sally’s – Even though you have three chances to catch the All-Stars this weekend, we chose their Saturday appearance at DC’s Gypsy Sally’s for a few reasons. Reason the first: the intimate confines of the venue combined with crucial acoustics mean you’ll be enjoying this reggae supergroup in peak listening conditions. Reason the second: the venue has a strict 21+ policy, so you’ll be among like-minded adults (sorry younger readers, your time will come). Reason the third: These guys are wicked talented.
